Julie Beauvais co-founded sprung and co-directed its first two creations. She is also the founder of the company Mondes Contraires in her home country of Switzerland. Mondes Contraires brings European artists together with local artists for extended residencies and performances in varied political and economic contexts. They have taught and performed in Brazil, Mongolia, and Nicaragua. In 2006 Julie became director of Ouverture-Opéra and has directed several operas for them in Valais, Switzerland. In addition to her training at l’Ecole Lecoq, Julie has studied and performed with Hopallehus Theatre under the auspices of Odin Teatret in Denmark, and she has completed the pedagogical year at the London International School of Performance Arts in London. In 2011, she will spend six months working on directing, movement, and lyric song with the New York City Opera.
